It includes the use of equipment, such as wheelchairs, hoists, and slings, as well as the proper techniques for lifting and carrying.

The goal of moving and handling is to minimize the risk of injury to both the person performing the task and the person or object being moved.

Requirements

At Obatos Recruitment & Training, We will cover major specific requirements in a moving and handling courses via the following:

1. Anatomy and physiology: This will include information on the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems, as well as common medical conditions that may affect a person's ability to move.

2. Risk assessment: This will cover the process of identifying potential hazards and assessing the risk of injury when moving and handling people or objects.

3. Equipment: This will include information on the different types of equipment used for moving and handling, such as wheelchairs, hoists, and slings, and how to use them safely.

4. Manual handling techniques: This will cover the proper techniques for lifting, carrying, and repositioning people and objects, including the use of proper body mechanics.

5. Legal and regulatory compliance: This will include information on relevant laws and regulations related to moving and handling, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act.

6. Practical training: Hands on practice or simulation of the techniques learned in the training.

7. Evaluation: The course should include an evaluation of the knowledge acquired, usually through an assessment test or practical evaluation.

It's also possible that trainees will need to demonstrate a particular degree of physical fitness or go through a medical screening before they can begin a given course.

 

Outcomes
